Jorginho scores 2 penalties as Chelsea win from behind

Jorginho scored twice from the penalty spot as Chelsea came from a goal down to win away to Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

The hosts took a fortunate lead on 28 minutes when Matt Targett’s cross from the left was flicked into his own goal by defender Reece James.

Aston Villa’s lead lasted only six minutes as Jorginho converted a penalty after Callum Hudson-Odoi had been felled by Matty Cash.

Romelu Lukaku was introduced at half-time having missed the previous three matches due to Covid-19. Within 11 minutes the Belgian superstar headed home Hudson-Odoi’s cross to give Chelsea their first lead of the game.

It was one they would not look back on but didn’t make secure until the final minute. Jorginho converting his second penalty after Lukaku had been fouled.

The three points for the Blues keeps them within six points of leaders Manchester City, whilst moving level on points with Liverpool after their game against Leeds United was postponed.
