Brighton move back into top half at Brentford’s expense

Brighton & Hove Albion finish Boxing Day in the top half of the 2021-22 Premier League table courtesy of their first win in 12 matches.

It came at the expense of a Brentford side who had started the day on level points with the Seagulls.

Manager Graham Potter witnessed excellent strikes from Leandro Trossard and Neal Maupay in the final 12 minutes of the first half.

Brighton dominated for long spells, missing a handful of chances before they finally took a deserved lead.

The visitors from London didn’t really get going until the second half, with Shandon Baptiste seeing an effort superbly saved by Robert Sanchez in the home side’s goal.
