Everton loan Bolasie to Sporting CP

Sporting Club of Portugal have signed Yannick Bolasie on loan from Everton for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

The 30-year-old still has two years left on his deal at Goodison Park having arrived in a £25 million deal from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2016.

Bolasie suffered a serious knee injury during his first season with the Toffees which kept him on the sidelines for nearly a full year. He has subsequently made just 23 Premier League starts for the Merseyside club and even spent last season out on loan.

The Democratic Republic of Congo winger was in the EFL Championship with Aston Villa for the first half of the 2018-19 campaign and then in Belgium with Anderlecht for the second half of the season.

Yannick Bolasie’s career at Everton seems to be over now that he has been sent out on loan for the third time in just over a year. Manager Marco Silva signed Alex Iwobi earlier this summer to add to the options he already has out wide, with Richarlison and Bernard starting the majority of games last season.

Sporting CP have qualified for the Group Stage of this season’s Europa League but have only taken seven points from their first four games domestically and are not expected to compete for the Portuguese Primeira Liga title again this campaign.
