Florin Andone has joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, the Premier League side have confirmed.
The Romanian striker was the Seagulls’ first goal scorer of the 2019-20 after coming off the bench to make it 2-0 at Watford in their opening game. Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure had opened the scoring with an own goal.
However, Andone’s last game for Brighton this season came in their third game when he was sent off for a vicious stamp on Southampton’s Yan Valery. The Saints went on to win 2-0, bringing an end to Brighton’s positive start of four points from their first two games.
The 26-year-old joined the Southcoast club from Deportivo La Coruna last summer but was largely used as a substitute with 17 of his 26 Premier League appearances coming from the bench. He netted just four goals, picking up five yellow cards and that aforementioned red in his last match.
Galatasaray are the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions and will be competing in this season’s Champions League, alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Club Brugge in Group A.
However, the Turkish giants have picked up just four points in their opening three matches of their domestic campaign, already five points behind leaders Alanyaspor and three behind rivals Fenerbahce.
Florin Andone will join up with the likes of Ryan Babel, Jean Michael Seri, Fernando Muslera, Steven Nzonzi and Sofiane Ferhouli in Fatih Terim’s squad.
