Man City Set To Make £70.6m Bid for Real Madrid Target

Manchester City are set to make a late offer to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports in France.

Pep Guardiola’s side have taken seven points from their opening three games to start the 2017-18 season, scoring five goals. Both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero have featured to start the new campaign.

According to French outlet Le 10 Sport, Manchester City are prepared to make an offer of €80 million (£70.6m) for the Gabon international.

Aubameyang has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world since signing for Jürgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund in 2013. The 28-year-old led the Bundesliga goal scoring chart with 31 goals last season. He has since attracted interest from a number of big clubs around Europe as a result.

What makes this report feasible is that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has previously expressed his desire to leave Signal Iduna Park. Real Madrid are also linked with a move for his services.

Manchester City already have a wealth of attacking talent at their disposal, with Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero their two main strikers. Raheem Sterling can also be used up front, which perhaps led to Kelechi Iheanacho’s departure to Leicester City earlier this summer.

The Premier League side could face stiff competition from Real Madrid, who sold Álvaro Morata to Chelsea this summer. With many believing Karim Benzema is in decline at the Santiago Bernabéu, it would not be a surprise to see the world football giants make a move for Aubameyang.

A bid of €80 million would not make Manchester City flinch. Guardiola has already splashed out £43m on Bernardo Silva, £34.9m on Ederson, £45m on Kyle Walker, £26.5m on Danilo, and £49.3m on Benjamin Mendy this summer.
