Liverpool Target Leaves Training, Set To Arrive Anfield For Medical

After the news that Jurgen Klopp is seriously interested in signing Ragnar Klavan from Augsburg, the deal seems to be almost done, with the Estonian centre-half missing the pre-season friendly against Sandhausen due to a reported back problem, which often is the excuse given by clubs and players when a move is imminent.  It is speculated that the centre back has missed training in order to finalise his medical and complete his transfer to the team from Anfield.

After the departure of Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel and the Achilles injury of Mamadou Sakho, Klopp doesn’t have many options in his defence right now and an experienced player like Klavan would be a good signing for his team. In addition to this, Klopp has also signed Joel Matip from Schalke this summer and reports claim that the Bundesliga duo could be starters at the beginning of the new season for Liverpool.

Klavan may not be an expensive player, but he will be a solid addition to the current Liverpool team. The Reds suffered with injuries to key players last season.

Klavan is known for his aerial strength, as he won 63% of his headed duels in Bundesliga with Augsburg last season. The deal is expected to be completed for the sum of 4 million pounds, with the medical reportedly to be completed today. However, it will not lower Liverpool’s odds among football bets for the EPL title.

After Mane, Karius and Matip, this will be Klopp’s fourth signing this summer.
