Higuain Will “Almost Certainly” Join Arsenal, Claims Reliable Sky Sports Journalist

Having signed Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this summer, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger now looks set to solve his attacking worries.

Sky Sports news reporter Kaveh Solhekol has reported that the official radio station of Serie A club Napoli have confirmed that the Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to join the Emirates club for a deal believed to worth £42m this summer transfer window. This deal will also see Arsenal’s top forward Olivier Giroud heading in the opposite direction.

Higuain had previously been linked with a move to Arsenal while he was at Real Madrid, but the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could not stop the striker from joining Serie A club Napoli in 2013.

It was reported last week by Italian news outlet Calciomercato that the north London club are now set to submit an offer worth £42m plus Frenchman Giroud to land the Argentine international striker this summer.

With the Argentine leading the Arsenal attack up front, and the likes of German Mesut Ozil and Chilean Alexis Sanchez supporting him from the midfield, there is no doubting the fact that Arsenal will score tons of goals. However, I sincerely doubt Wenger will be getting rid of Giroud.

If Arsenal are to sign Higuain, which I believe is possible, I strongly believe it will be a straight cash deal and not a cash plus Giroud deal.

And to be honest, with Giroud in the team, the Gunners need a striker to add to the current crop. Therefore, why would Wenger then be signing Higuain or any striker for that matter and be getting rid of Giroud?

Unless Wenger intends to bring in Higuain and another striker, I do not see Giroud leaving Arsenal this summer.
