Chelsea Transfer Round-up: Conte Wants Barbosa & Manolas, Palmer Leaves

Some more new faces are expected at the Bridge this summer transfer window, as Chelsea still intend to do business, despite having recently completed the signing of Belgium international striker Michy Batshuayi from French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille and N’Golo Kante from Leicester City.

Chelsea endured a disappointing campaign last season by their standards, and new Italian boss Antonio Conte, who was unveiled last week by the west London club, will be looking to ensure that the Blues perform better next season.

In this article, we take a quick look at all the latest Chelsea transfer news:

If you don’t already know, French international midfielder N’Golo Kante has signed for the Blues, with Chelsea having reportedly agreed a transfer fee in the region of £32 million for the French midfielder, according to Sky Sports. The Frenchman was pivotal in Leicester City’s victorious Premier League campaign last season, and securing the midfielder’s signature will more than likely boost Chelsea’s hopes of winning the English football’s top prize next season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer has linked up with Championship side Huddersfield Town on a one-year loan deal. The versatile attacker who can also play out wide is yet to play in a first-team match for the Blues, but he will be hoping his experience away from the club on loan will be enough to help him lay a claim to a first-team shirt next season.

According to the Mirror, the Blues are set to sign South America striker Gabriel Barbosa from Brazilian club Santos for £25m. Barbosa has found the back of the net 11 times so far this season.

Chelsea appear to be in the market for a centre back and, to this end, the Blues have been linked with the signing of AS Roma’s powerful centre back Kostas Manolas. Chelsea will however have competition for the signature of the Greece international from Arsenal.
