Jurgen Klopp Plans Shock Signing $22.6m-Rated Arsenal Target

Liverpool have so far reinforced their backline by signing top players like Joel Matip from German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 and Loris Karis from Bundesliga side Mainz this summer transfer window.

However, Jurgen Klopp is not in the mood to stop yet. The Merseyside club are reportedly willing to bring in a quality left-back to take the place of current number 1 defender in that position, Alberto Moreno, in the starting eleven.

To this end, the Reds are said to be ready to beat Arsenal to the signing of Germany star Jonas Hector. According to a report published by Daily Star, the Anfield club can finally secure the signature of 26-year-old full back/wing back for a reported fee of $22.6million.

Jonas Hector made 34 appearances all competitions last season for the Bundesliga club and assisted 4 goals in the process. He is a reliable left-back and has been linked with Barca, which is quite telling.

The wing-back featured in every match for the Germany national team at the recently concluded European Championships. He scored the decisive penalty in the shootout against Italy in the quarter final, and also brilliantly assisted Mesut Ozil’s opening goal for Germany in the same match.

However, with Kieran Gibbs likely to leave Arsenal this summer, it will not be a surprise if the Gunners beat Liverpool to his signing. The lure of Champions League football may be too much to turn down for the German. Also, the Gunners can afford to pay him more money than Liverpool.

Although Liverpool have the charisma of Jurgen Klopp, who could convince the player to make the switch to Anfield, Arsenal do have Hector’s international team-mate Mesut Ozil, who can help convince the 26-year-old to move to the Emirates.
