Julian Draxler Off To Arsenal? Encouraging News From Wolfsburg

The sporting director of Wolfsburg has hinted that Arsenal target Julian Draxler could leave the German Bundesliga side this summer should the right offer be made for the World Cup winner.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Draxler for a couple of seasons, but it appears that Arsene Wenger is finally ready to put his money where his mouth is by finally moving for the German. Maybe it’s because he has so far been frustrated in his bid to sign a world class striker for Arsenal.

Rumour had it that Wenger sees Draxler as a player who can play the ‘false nine’ position. Hence, it is not a surprise that Arsenal are being linked with signing Draxler. Aside being able to play as a striker, Draxler will certainly be an upgrade, a massive upgrade, on Theo Walcott, at the least.

With Wolfsburg not in the Champions League next season and their sponsors Volkswagen making it clear they will have to cut-back some of the funding, Arsenal could well take advantage of the German club’s financial difficulties.

The Wolfsburg sporting director, Klaus Allofs, revealed to newsmen recently that issues need to be settled as soon as possible between the club and the player, which is a clear indication that the player could be on the move this summer.

‘Clearly we have a lot to talk about. There were a few issues that have emerged in the past,’ the Wolfsburg chairman was recently quoted as saying.

With strikers outrageously priced, signing Draxler could be a masterstroke and, with the player willing to leave, and Arsenal monopolising interest in the international, Wolfsburg may in the end be forced to lower their price.
