4-Year Deal Agreed: Arsenal To Complete Transfer Of Highly-Rated Winger

Arsenal youngster Wellington Silva, this week, has posted a picture of himself in the shirt of his former club Fluminense and captioning it: ‘A good son always returns home’. This was then interpreted as meaning he is on his way back to Brazil to re-sign for his former club.

Now Renan Moura, who is a journalist with Brazilian radio station Globo/CBN Rio, has revealed that the player is set to return back to Brazil and has signed a four-year contract with Fluminense.

The above tweet when translated reads: “Danilinho and Wellington Silva closed the final details of the negotiations and are Flu players”

The journalist went further to give more details about the deals and tweeted:

In English, the above reads: “Danilinho signs contract for one year. Wellington Silva returns with four-year bond”

Silva, 23, joined the Gunners in the summer of 2010, but had to experience loan spells at La Liga clubs, including Alcayano, Levante, Ponferredina, Murcia and Almeria, as Arsenal could not initially get a work permit for him.

He never featured for Wenger’s first team. However, in 2014, he obtained a Spanish passport, making him eligible to play for Arsenal. Last season, he was on loan at Bolton Wanderers, but he did not live up to expectations as the club disappointingly got relegated from the second tier of English football.

Last season, Bolton boss Neil Lennon criticized the Brazilian, lamenting that the Arsenal man was not playing well enough to earn a place in Lancashire-based team.

His current Arsenal contract was set to end in the summer of 2018, but it seems like a transfer to his former club, Fluminense, is done and dusted.
