According to the British tabloid Evening Standard, Mauro Icardi’s agent has confirmed that London clubs Spurs and Arsenal are among the many suitors across Europe who have tabled offers for unsettled the Inter Milan striker.
The Argentine joined Serie A club Inter Milan from another Italian side Sampdoria back in 2013 and went on to find the back of the net 52 times in 105 games for the Milan club since joining them, but in April, Icardi hinted he will consider leaving Inter Milan should an offer from a club playing in the Champions League arrive for him.
Icardi’s wife, Wanda Nara, who also doubles as his agent, recently declared that the Serie A giant are set to sell off the Argentine which made the Milan club to issue an official press release to deny the claim, emphasizing that their striker and captain was not for sale at any price, having renewed his contract last year.
Nara has once again fueled speculations surrounding her client, after revealing that the Serie A club is currently in talks with two Premier League clubs namely, Tottenham and Arsenal about a potential move for the striker.
She also informed the media that Inter Milan have not fulfilled their promises to the striker, over an improved contract following the acceptance of a cut in wages last season.
Nara says:
“There are many offers, but I do not negotiate with other clubs. I only talk about Mauro’s contract, that’s my role, not doing negotiations. Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now.”
“I’ve asked for a renewal because the club had promised me a renewal. Last year we accepted their conditions, which mean a lower salary, the sale of the 50% of Mauro’s economic rights and there is no release clause on his contract. They have to keep their promises.”
“We want to stay in Milan. People say I am a mercenary, but I am not. [Inter] have to say the truth. They can’t say Icardi is not for sale and then talk to other clubs.”
In a troubled season, Icardi still managed to score 16 goals in 34 games for Inter Milan last season which is extremely good especially considering the defensive nature of the Serie A.
