German star Julian Draxler could leave the club this summer, according to his sporting director at Wolfsburg, Klaus Allofs.
“Clearly we have a lot to talk about. There were a few issues that have emerged in the past.” Klaus Allofs was quoted as saying.
Wolfsburg, who had a poor season last term in the Bundesliga has had their money cutback by their sponsor Volkswagen, after the German club failed to make the Uefa champions league spot last season. This means they could be having financial problems, remember when Arsenal signed Cazorla from Malaga due to a financial problem? Maybe that is set to happen once again?
Wolfsburg is now faced with a huge problem of losing their star players including the duo of Germany international attackers Julian Draxler and former Chelsea ace Andre Schurrle.
As a result of this recent cutback in cash by club sponsor Volkswagen, the club might find it hard to keep up with the wages of the big earners in the club, which could make them sell some of them. Among players they may have to cash in on is Germany international attacker Julian Draxler, who has since been eyed by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Latest report coming from Germany courtesy of Mirror Online claims Arsenal are on red alert for the player after Wolfsburg director’s hinted they might have to let go, after 1 season of disappointment.
Draxler certainly won’t come cheap but if Wenger remains interested, as various reports have indicated, then he must think Arsenal have a chance of getting the German.
Wenger certainly likes Draxler, he has tried to sign him when he was with Schalke 04 and recently heaped praises on him. Knowing Wenger, he hardly gives up on players he has interest in. Examples are abound in the current Arsenal team. Mesut Ozil was linked with Arsenal when he was at Werder Bremen, way before he joined Real Madrid but ended up getting him years later from Madrid.
Sanchez was another player Wenger was linked with his signing but ended up signing him years later. The Chilean after the world cup in South Africa in 2010 was linked with Arsenal but ended up at Barca and from Barca moved to Arsenal.
