Julian Draxler Keen On Arsenal Move As Wenger Meets His Agent

From all indication, Arsenal are in the market for a winger this summer. The Gunners were linked with the signing Henrik Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund who has now signed for Manchester United, and now are been linked with the signing of Julian Draxler. Which is a big indication that Wenger wants a new wing forward at Arsenal. Time up for Theo Walcott? Won’t be a surprise.

According to a report by Daily star, Julian Draxler who isn’t being linked with Arsenal for the first time is keen on finally signing for the Gunners after Wenger held talks with the world cup winner’s agent over a possible move to the Emirates this summer. Draxler was linked with a move to Arsenal while he was at Schalke 04, it was reported back then that Schalke 04 rejected Arsenal’s bid for the attacker before agreeing to sell him to Wolfsburg a year later.

Although Daily star are not the most reliable media outlets out there, reliable media outlets such as SportsBild of Germany are reporting that Wenger has made the German Arsenal’s main target this summer. Bild reckons he will cost Arsnal as much as £50m (€60m) which will be above Arsenal’s £42.5 million transfer record.

And it must also be noted that Wenger heaped praises on the German during the just concluded European Championship in France. Wenger had openly admitted he is a big fan of Draxler. Maybe he is now putting his money where his mouth his? Maybe, just maybe.

Manchester United have Henrikh Mkhitaryan who can play on the right wing for them, Chelsea have Oscar, Willian and Hazard, Liverpool have Coutinho, Firminho and even to some extent Sturridge who can all play on the right wing, Arsenal have Theo Walcott, Chamberlain and Iwobi. Surely Draxler will be an upgrade on a the three of them.

Whether Wenger will be willing to pay the £50m (€60m) price tag is yet to be seen but it won’t be a surprise if the Frenchman sanctions such a move, especially if he is not going to bring in a striker.

Having seen the German play, I am convinced he has the potential to become a striker like Robin Van Persie. Van Persie was a winger in his early days but Wenger was able to transform him to become one of the best strikers in the game.
