As confirmed by various media outlets in both the British and the Spanish press, Real Madrid have triggered the buy back clause in Morata’s contract and are looking to resell him to the highest bidder. He has been linked to virtually all the big clubs in Europe which is not a surprise.
His past 2 years at Juventus allowed him to become something close to a world class striker and thanks to his goals in very important matches, he won 2 Serie A titles with the Turin based team as well as helping the old lady to the final of the UEFA Champions league in 2015 against Barcelona. Although he scored Juve’s equalizing goal in the match, he and Juve ended on the losing side.
So where is Morata’s next destination? According to British news paper Express, Real Madrid have turned down a €60 million monster offer from Chelsea for their Spanish forward as they intend to keep him in Madrid. With Benzema-Ronaldo-Bale still in business, it will be interesting to see what role Real Madrid has in plan for Morata.
And with the Express claiming that new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte offered €60 million for the player, you would have to think that he will be an important player for Real Madrid next season, for them to have turned down such a big money offer. Or mabe the reports are not true? Because in my opinion, Madrid certainly won’t be able to keep both Morata and Benzema happy unless they will pay a two-striker system.
Arsenal have also been linked with the signing of the striker. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the player and reports have it that the Frenchman is merely waiting for Madrid to lower their demands for the player before putting in a bid.
Personally, I think with Chelsea signing Michy Batshuayi, they do not need to spend so much on Morata unless of course Diego Costa is leaving or Conte is planning to play a two striker system next season. Michy Batshuayi, Diego Costa and Morata in the same thing can only lead to problems in the dressing room as one of them is certainly going to be unhappy due to lack of playing time which will be inevitable.
Arsenal are in my opinion the team more in need of Morata’s services but as we all know, Wenger is not going to pay €50 million not to talk of the €60 million that was rejected by Real Madrid from Chelsea for Morata.
