Done Deal – Chelsea Agrees $33m Key Midfielder Deal, To Earn £120,000-A-Week

Chelsea had their worst season in more than ten years last season. They got knocked out from the Champions League by PSG at the second round stage of the competition and they finished 10th on the Premier League table. While most of their players fumbled, one of them stood out among the crowd. His name, Willian.

His stellar performance for Chelsea last season is highlighted by the fact that he had a hand in not less than 21 goals for Chelsea last season. He scored 11 goals and created 10 assists. And this was despite he having to carry his team mates. Probably Chelsea would have finished even lower down the Premier League table if the Brazilian was also woefully out of form as his team mates.

The Brazilian was by miles Chelsea’s best player last season, and the most consistent. He was recently linked with a move to some Chinese club but reports have that that Chelsea have moved quickly and offered the Brazilian a new four-year contract which will reportedly see him earn £120,000-a-week, totaling £25 million ($33 million) over the course of the new contract.

With the new contract, which is signed, sealed and delivered, Chelsea will now know that no club can prize the Brazilian away from them unless they chose to sell him. With manager Antonio Conte having already signed striker Michy Batshuayi from Olympic Marseille and looking to bring in more players, keeping Willian away from the hawks can only increase the Blues chances of bouncing back to where they belong in English football.
