Danny Welbeck’s push for a return to the first team has been stalled once again.
The former Manchester United striker has been out for the Gunners since April and while he was expected to return in September, it looks like the 25-year-old will only be back in 2016.
“He is still not available because of a bone bruising,” Wenger said. “That deteriorated and it is a big blow to us because we cannot rotate.”
Welbeck flattered to deceive for Arsenal in his debut season with just four goals in 25 games and faces an uphill task to displace Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott in the pecking order.
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez — who missed three games with a hamstring injury — could be fit for Arsenal’s tie against Manchester City.
