Bastian Schweinsteiger to join Manchester United

Bayern Munich have reportedly accepted a fee of around £14 million from Manchester United for Bastian Schweinsteiger in what would be a fantastic acquisition for the Red Devils.

The midfielder has been offered a three-year deal and would be paid £140,000 a week. If the deal is complete, he will become United manager Louis van Gaal’s third signing of the summer following Dutch forward Memphis Depay and Italian defender Matteo Darmian.

During his 13 seasons with Bayern, Schweinsteiger won the league eight times, DFB Pokal seven times, Liga Pokal twice, and the Super Cup twice with the club.

Schweinsteiger would see his role with the Bundesliga giants diminished in the 2015-16 season should he stay. It is more likely that the German international will rejoin former manager Van Gaal, whom he played under at Bayern between 2009 and 2011.

The 30-year-old is a major summer target of Van Gaal’s, who hopes to strengthen key areas in his side and challenge for the Premier League title in the upcoming season.
