It was announced on Wednesday that Eder, who scored 38 goals in 143 Primeira Liga appearances, had completed a successful medical at Liberty Stadium.
The 27-year-old began his career at Academica in 2008, winning the Portuguese Cup with the side for the club’s first time in 73 years and attracting attention from a number of clubs.
He then joined fellow Primeira Liga side Braga in 2012. He scored ten goals in 29 appearances for Braga as they finished fourth in the top flight in the 2014-15 season.
Eder also has 18 caps to his name and notably featured in the 2014 World Cup.
The signings of Eder and Ayew will help Bafetimbi Gomis strengthen manager Garry Monk’s attacking options in the 2015-16 campaign, in which the Portuguese will wear the squad number 17.
