Brede Hangeland signs one-year deal

33-year-old defender Brede Hangeland has signed a one year deal at Selhurst Park, after making 17 appearances and scoring two goals over the course of the season.

The Norwegian told the club website:

“I’m delighted to have signed with Crystal Palace for the new season.  I have really enjoyed working under Alan Pardew and we have a very talented squad who are all a really good bunch of lads to be around.

“These are very exciting times at the club and I look forward to playing a part in making next year in another successful one.”

After being placed on the release list, Hangeland looked set to leave, but has surprised everyone by extending his contract.

The defender helped Palace achieve a 10th place finish in the league, after being released by Fulham the previous season.
