Wes Brown signs one year extension

Sunderland’s head coach Dick Advocaat confirmed on Friday that Wes Brown will stay at the Stadium of Light for another year.

The England defender was about to leave the club this July as he found his name on the free transfer release list submitted by the club just three days ago.

The former Manchester United player joined the club in July 2011 and has since, made 7o league appearances, out of which 25 came this season.

His experience has clearly been deemed crucial as Advocaat decided to retain the 35-year-old.

It marks the first big move by the former Netherlands manager who recently turned down a chance remain at Wearside only to change his mind.
