Angel Di Maria spurns transfer rumours

Despite struggling to impress in his first season for Manchester United, Angel Di Maria has stated that he will continue to play at Old Trafford.

Di Maria arrived at the club last year for a British transfer record fee of £59.7 million after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League.

The 27-year-old started strong for United but was unable to keep up the pace, finishing with only three goals in 27 Premier League appearances and looking a shadow of his former self.

As a result, Di Maria had been the center of rumours linking him to Paris Saint-Germain, with David Luiz and Thiago Silva both claiming he would be a good fit for the Parisian squad. When asked about the possibility, Di Maria stated:

“I have just finished my first season playing for Manchester United. Now I will play the Copa America and then I will move back to Manchester for next season and do my best there.

I think I did a good job, though. I finished second in assists and I scored some goals, so I definitely think I did well in my first season at Manchester United.”

While Di Maria didn’t perform to expectations, he should only truly be judged in his second season, having fully adapted to this new club and manager.
