Premier League newcomers Bournemouth are hot favourites to sign Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle for a fee of £6 million.
The Palace front-man has 10 goals to his name this season despite having seen his playing time diminish towards the end of the season.
Boss Alan Pardew believes that forward has a future with the club but a fee bordering on £6 million would certainly force the former Newcastle boss to think twice.
Dwight, signed in 2013 for £4.5 million deal from Peterborough, was the club’s record signing at that time and Palace would want to recoup the fee and more if they are to agree on a deal for him.
Bournemouth will be embarking on their first season in the Premier League and Cherries boss Eddie Howe has identified the 25-year-old as a target following their promotion into the top-flight.
Veteran striker Jermaine Defoe, now at Sunderland, who scored 18 goals for Bournemouth on loan in the 2000-2001 season is seen as the alternative to Gayle.
