Sam Allardyce departure announced

Just a few minutes after Newcastle’s 2-0 win over the Hammers, West Ham announced the departure of Sam Allardyce.

West Ham started the season well but eventually dipped in form, ending the season in a disappointing 12th place finish.

The decision to not renew Allardyce’s contract ends the former Bolton manager’s four year spell at the club where he got the Hammers promoted from the Championship.

Allardyce also claims it was a mutual decision:

“I didn’t want to stay. I suppose you could say it was mutual if they didn’t want me to stay either. I thought it was the right time to leave – and probably the right time for me and the club.”
