Norwich City secured promotion to the Premier League for next season with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final at Wembley today.
Goals from Cameron Jerome and Nathan Redmond helped Norwich to a two goal lead in the opening 15 minutes.
Both sides started well with Bradley Johnson rattling the crossbar with a thunderous drive before Jelle Vossen beat John Ruddy with a drive that also rattled the bar.
Norwich however, played with authority and confidence and punished Middlesbrough who found themselves behind after Ayala got caught out by Jerome Sinclair who dispossessed him by the byline on the right and zipped into the penalty box slotting past Dimi Konstantopoulos from a tight angle.
Aitor Karanka’s side looked dull in comparison to a well drilled Norwich side who passed the ball around with swagger and also worked tirelessly off the ball to frustrate their opponents..
Norwich have now emulated QPR who last year secured a Wembley win to go straight back up the Premier League after getting relegated the season before.
