Liverpool reportedly place offer for French star

Liverpool are said to have placed a £20 million offer for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, reported the Sunday Express.

For a side who have had their goal tally cut in half from last season, the 23-year-old would likely be welcomed at Anfield with open arms. After all, he’s scored 27 goals in 32 games in Ligue 1 this season.

Lacazette has been a target of many teams, most notably Manchester United and PSG. Just days ago, United managed to snatch up Memphis Depay from both teams, although it was believed that Liverpool were the frontrunners.

Brendan Rodgers would like nothing more than to take the young French starlet from Louis Van Gaal to make up for missing out on Depay, even if he claims he was never interested.

It would also probably signal the end of Mario Balotelli’s tenure at Liverpool, which will surely bring a smile to many faces around Merseyside after the Italian has had a nightmare debut season at Anfield.
