Burnley relegated despite win at Hull

Burnley were relegated today despite a 1-0 away win over fellow relegation candidates Hull City.

A goal from Danny Ings in the second half was enough for Sean Dyche’s side to win at the KC Stadium but it wasn’t enough as Burnley sit seven points behind 17th place Newcastle.

Dyche however was proud of his players throughout the course of the season but admitted that they lacked enough ‘true moments of quality’, having only scored 27 goals in 36 league games.

Hull City on the other hand are in trouble as they now sit in 18th place two points behind Newcastle but facing Tottenham and Manchester United in their last two games.

“The whole thing has got to the team and we haven’t performed at all. We were nowhere near the level which you need to perform at to go and get yourselves out of trouble.” – Steve Bruce.

Bruce however believes they can surprise everyone and get a win which would help them out of the relegation zone:

“I have always said, it does not matter who you have on paper, you have got to perform.

“Against Palace and Liverpool, nobody gave us a chance, so we have got to believe that we can go [to Tottenham] and get a result.”
