Manuel Pellegrini: Man City playing with the right intensity

Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini believes his side are playing with the right intensity as they look to overtake Chelsea. After an inconsistent start to the season, the Citizens have been resurgent in recent weeks, having won 6 league games in a row, cutting the lead from Chelsea to just 3 points.

Wins against Bayern Munich and Roma have also seen City enter the last 16 of the Champions League for the second year in a row – two big wins which have been great for momentum.

“We are playing now with the intensity and in style of play we always do. Again we have players in high level of performance and good moments. We are trusting in what we do so, in the same way maybe we played in a poor way two months ago, we are doing very well.”

Sergio Aguero has been a key part of City’s resurgence but will be out for a month after the injury he suffered against Everton earlier this month. Pellegrini is confident that City can continue their form without him but acknowledged that they need the Argentine back fit sooner rather than later:

“In this moment we are playing in a high level but we always need to return, as soon as we can, Aguero and all the other players that are injured.”

Manchester City play West Brom on Friday.
