When Real Madrid or Barcelona want a player, they more often than not get what they want. It has happened many times. Both of the Spanish giants have a way of enticing the players they want. Hence I strongly think it is a matter of when and not if Chelsea will lose the services of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
The 11-time Champions League winners obviously want Hazard, it is believed that they see him as the long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and you can see why. Eden Hazard is a top player on his day. Yes, he needs to be more consistent but when on form, he is unplayable.
He has been a key player for Chelsea this season. The Blues look likely to win the Premier League this season even though their lead at the top has been reduced to four points by Tottenham having lost to Manchester United on Sunday. Should Chelsea win the title, Hazard can be counted as one of the reasons.
The Belgian superstar has been sensational for the West London club this season. Only N’Golo Kante has done better in my opinion. However, Hazard is not assuring Chelsea fans that he will be playing for them next season. Speaking to the press, Hazard refused to rule out the possibility of leaving Chelsea any time soon:
“When it’s not PSG, it’s Real Madrid, then maybe it’s Bayern Munich… strangely last year there wasn’t anybody. I may also have personal ambitions to play in other clubs. But I’m trying to focus on the present, end up in Chelsea this year. I have a contract until 2020. For now, I’m here and good here.”
Judging by that statement, whether Hazard continues to play for Chelsea beyond this season is dependent on if Real Madrid will come for him in the summer or not, in my opinion. It is obvious the Belgian won’t reject a chance to move to Real Madrid; not many players would. Although he mentioned Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, I strongly believe it is only Real Madrid who have a good chance of taking him away from Stamford Bridge.
PSG and Bayern Munich may be interested but neither are as charming as Real Madrid. PSG may have the money but Real Madrid are the biggest football club in the world and Eden Hazard will know this.
Chelsea should go for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez as a replacement for Hazard if he leaves this summer. Sanchez is still yet to sign a new Arsenal contract and that makes the Gunners vulnerable to sell. It will not be easy to sign the Chilean as Arsenal will likely be reluctant to let him go to a Premier league rival, but trust me, it is all about the money for the Gunners. If a big offer comes in, they are very likely to accept it if Sanchez doesn’t want to sign a new deal, rather than let him leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract in 2018.
